Update 9/25/16: I received my first set of shots on Sept. 6 and am scheduled for my second set of shots on Oct 3. (I have been wormed a few times.) My foster mom will discuss my future needs regarding spaying and shots with my new forever home. Adoption Donation Fee is $375. Hello! My name is Melanie. My foster mom calls me Mel. I'm a puppy at Puppy Pals Rescue. I was born on July 16th and only weighed 5.8 oz. My last weigh-in was on August 31 and I weighed 2.12 lbs. I am the second little girl (and second born) of four puppies born while our mom was in the care of Puppy Pals. (Our mom was already pregnant when Puppy Pals took her ... (Read More)in.) Puppy Pals is not sure of my breed mix. My hair is white (and softer than my siblings) and I have tan ears. I do not have any dark spots like my siblings do. I probably resemble my dad (Freckles) more than my mom (Pokey). You can see pictures of them here on Puppy Pals' website, as they are looking for forever homes too! I am somewhat dominant over two of my siblings (Buttons and Lil Lucy) - they are smaller than me. I have a big, strong brother named Bandit who is quite the leader. I hold my own. I enjoy playing with toys now and trying to keep my siblings in line. We are getting to go outside and enjoy running around exploring. I love to try to climb and I am an adventurer. I discovered the joy of tree leaves - chasing them and carrying them around in my mouth. I am having a great time being a puppy. I love my foster momma very much, but it's time that I grow up and find a family of my own. Is it possibleēņ%BD'ēņ%BD| that you might be my new family? A note from Puppy Pals: We keep all our puppies until they are 9-10 weeks old before they are adopted. Staying with siblings until this age makes them more socialized with other dogs and people. If you have any questions please contact my foster mom at the link found at http://puppypalsrescue.com/Dogs_Melanie1661.html. Fill out an application if you are interested in adopting me - you can find those at http://puppypalsrescue.com/Applications.html. (Email my foster home and let them know you applied so they can be sure the application is received! ) I just can't wait to find a forever home! Thanks!!! (Less)

UPDATE 9/25/16: I received my first set of shots on Tuesday, Sept. 6, and was neutered on Monday, Sept. 19. (I have been wormed a few times.) I will not be available for adoption until I have healed from the surgery and have received my second round of shots the first week of Oct. My mom is Pokey and my dad is Freckles - their pictures are on the website because they are looking for forever homes too. (My mom was already pregnant when Puppy Pals took her in.) Don't tell my siblings, but I'm the cutest one of the bunch. Honestly, I have been told that many times - really! People just love my spots on the top of my head and on my bottom. I have pretty eyes. I enjoy playing with toys now and trying to keep my siblings in line. I've been told that I'm the toy stealer. My favorite toy is a white bunny - I'll pick him up and shake him. I love to sleep curled up with my sister, Lucy. My foster mom says that I can be quite vocal at times. We are getting to go outside and enjoy running around exploring. Animal ID: PPR16-71Popcorn (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello, my name is Popcorn! The vet estimated me at 1-2 years old and I weigh 9.9 lbs. I'm a Chihuahua mix - possibly with pug? I am fawn and white in color. I arrived at Puppy Pals Rescue after a few nights in the Dayton shelterČ'Ř| someone had found me on the loose and I had been taken to the ARC to be scanned and held in hopes I would be claimed. After three days, my time was up. Puppy Pals Rescue wanted me to have another chance at happiness and came to pick me up and took me straight away to my foster home. I have been spayed, updated on all shots, heartworm and fecal tested (results negative) and micro-chipped. This is ... (Read More)what my foster mom has to say about me: Popcorn has a wonderful personality and is eager to meet new people (even though she can be shy at first). She has been around a 6-year-old and our 11-year-old granddaughter without any problems. Popcorn is housebroken, loves to ride in cars, and has no signs of car sickness. She is leash trained and loves to go on walks. She gets along well with our other two dogs. She is learning to play fetch (though doesn't always bring it back - LOL!). Popcorn can be a little fearful of new people - it's best to let her come to you at first until she feels comfortable. She does have a tendency to be a potential runner, given the opportunity, so it's recommended that Popcorn be adopted to a home with a secure fenced-in backyard. Whoever adopts Popcorn will be very lucky to have such a sweet dog. Contact info for Popcorn can be found at the bottom of Popcorn's page on the Puppy Pals Rescue web site: http://www.puppypalsrescue.com/Dogs_Popcorn1671.html. If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out an Adoption Application Form: http://www.puppypalsrescue.com/Adoption.html. (Less)

Thank you for taking the time to read about Sage. She is a sweet girl that is looking for a new home due to no fault of her own. Sage was adopted from Puppy Pals Rescue when she was a puppy, but is now year and a half old. She is 12 pounds, spayed, up to date on her shots, housebroken and crate trained. She needs a home that will allow her grow and learn. She is timid at first because she has not be socialized much. New people and new environments make her nervous, but she is a smart girl and such a lover. Sage needs a home with strong leaders, structure and routines. If you would like more information about her, or think you could be ... (Read More)just the home she needs please email me... Jamie at gsdmomto2@yahoo.com Puppy Pals Rescue is listing Sage as a courtesy to the owners. Puppy Pals Rescue is not liable for the actions of Sage or her owners. Puppy Pals Rescue is not responsible for choosing an adoptive home for Sage. Please do not contact Puppy Pals Rescue for information about Sage, as she is not in our care. (Less)

I have been Rosie's foster mom for over five months now. Rosie came to Puppy Pals Rescue as an owner surrender from Kentucky. Rosie is a three-year-old Chi-mix dog and is a beautiful girl. When taking Rosie to Petco to meet potential adopters (Puppy Pals Rescue does this normally the first Saturday of the month), it was noted how fearful she seemed around strangers and how she would growl and shiver when people came near her. After talking to the Puppy Pals Rescue Board, it was decided Rosie needed to be taken off the adoption list and given positive behavior training classes to help her overcome her fear of strangers. The trainer ... (Read More)thought the cause of the fear growling was due to lack of socialization during her puppy stage. Correcting Rosie to stop the growling was not the purpose of the training, eliminating or handling the cause of the growling was the purpose. So Rosie and I went on a new adventure. Rosie did well in her behavior classes and we started the socialization process. Rosie met a lot of strangers following a technique that, if you adopt Rosie, I will teach you. She was a regular at the pet stores walking around handling new surroundings and walking on the bike path. She met many people who followed the techniques I was taught by the trainer, Heather, and gradually the growling went away. It took months of working with Rosie to have her feel secure. It only takes Rosie about ten minutes to warm up to new people and then she is fine. Rosie has been living with my pack for the past five months. Rosie tends to be a little dominant but has fit into my pack of three dogs nicely. I have two small chis and a terrier mix. When Rosie first arrived here she wanted to be the leader but my 8-pound chi showed her he was the pack leader--there was no fighting and she seems comfortable with that. Rosie likes to play mostly with my 5.5 pound chi and they do this daily. Rosie is a food oriented girl so I feed her in her doggie playpen so she will not eat the other dogs' food. Rosie does like to be the first dog out the door (she likes to bark as she goes out), first fed, first in the car, and first to get the squeaky toy. Rosie does growl when she plays with the dogs at times but my dogs do also. Rosie completed her training classes and does follow verbal and hand commands to sit, wait, stay, come, down, and stand. She came to the foster home 100% potty trained. Rosie loves to ride in the car and put her nose out the window, loves to fetch squeaky toys, loves to get a back massage each night, loves to sit by a human's side, loves to sleep under a blanket, loves to lay in the sun, loves to give kisses, loves to walk on a leash and explore, and loves life. One thing that Rosie loves also is to watch Dr Jeff, Dr Dee, and Vet Life on the Animal Planet channel. She will watch it for ten to fifteen minutes and then take a nap. Rosie has been spayed, had all her shots, heart worm and fecal tested negative, and is current on her flea and heart worm protection. The ideal home for Rosie would be a single person or a family without children. Children are rather spontaneous and would not take the time for Rosie to warm up to them. She has not been around children in her foster home. A fenced yard is preferred. Rosie will need a special person who understands dogs (especially Chihuahuas) that will give Rosie a forever loving home. If you are that person please fill out the application. Feel free to email me or call me if you have questions about Rosie. Fill out an application if you are interested in adopting her - you can find those at http://www.puppypalsrescue.com/Adoption.html. (Email her foster home and let them know an application has been sent so they can make sure it arrives!) Rosie just can't wait to find a forever home! Thanks!!! (Less)
