Animal ID: PPR16-97Beau (male)

Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello - meet our Beau! He is an active 2-year-old male Yorkshire/Silky Terrier mix who weighs 14 lbs. Beau is silver and tan in color. Beau was rescued from a local shelter in Ohio as a stray. When he arrived, he was ill with kennel cough which he was treated for 3 weeks and he has overcome. He had some hair loss on his back side and legs which is now coming back in, but does still have some leathery skin on the inside of his legs. This condition is called Seborrheic Dermatitis per the vet. We believe that, just like the other hair which has grown back, in due time. he will be healed completely. Beau has been neutered, updated ... (Read More)on all his vaccinations, heartworm and fecal tested (results negative) and micro-chipped. Beau was extremely timid when he first arrived and we have given him much needed time to heal from skin issues and time to feel secure in his new environment. He still has a ways to go, but he has made excellent progress. He made his first appearance at a Petco event on 2/4/17 and he seemed very comfortable being around people and having kids pet him. Beau did a wonderful job. We feel confident that he's ready to start looking for his ideal home. Beau does well on car rides and walking on a leash (he is making great progress). He gets along with other dogs at his foster home. We do not know about cats as he hasn't been around them. He will need continued help/patience on his house-training. He appears to be crate-trained. He doesn't mind wearing a belly band if needed. His ideal home would be with a couple who has older children with a fenced-in back yard. He needs a family who is willing to give him a chance to prove himself a wonderful family companion. He is a sweet fella who deserves a family of his very own to love. If you have any questions please contact the foster home at the link found at http://puppypalsrescue.com/Dogs_Beau1697.html. Fill out an application if you are interested in adopting this pup - you can find those at http://puppypalsrescue.com/Applications.html. (Email the foster home and let them know you applied so they can be sure the application is received!) Beau just can't wait to find a forever home! Thanks!!! (Less)

Animal ID: PPR16-105Chase (male)

Chihuahua    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Chase is an estimated age of one year old and is a six-pound white/fawn male Chihuahua. He has a beautiful and so soft, thick coat of fur that is between short and medium length. He is a shy little fella, but once he warms up to you he gives kisses and loves to rest near you. He is a very active dog and loves to play outside with his toys and his foster brothers. He will fetch his toys and bring them to you about 80% of the time. Chase was found wandering around a town in Kentucky with a couple of other dogs. The shelter came to get Chase and his buddies. Puppy Pals Rescue member, Lisa Carmany, went to the shelter and bailed him out ... (Read More)for Puppy Pals Rescue - no owner had come forward to claim him. Then PPR's Russ and Linda went to Kentucky to pick up Chase so he would be able to find a forever loving home in Ohio. Chase was vetted in Kentucky. He was neutered, given all his shots, fecal tested, heart worm tested, and micro chipped. He was given his booster shot one month later. Chase did test positive for worms in his stool and was treated for five days to eradicate the worms. It was recommended by the Vet that the medication be repeated in three months. The cost of the medication was $22.00. His heart worm test was negative. He has received his heart worm and flea protection and is up to date. Chase had no potty manners when he came here. By having him go outside to potty every three hours, he is now potty trained. During the really cold weather he wore his jacket while outside - Chihuahuas do not like the cold. He is crated at night and does not soil his crate. He did have some anxiety the first night when he was put in the crate, but that was solved when I placed the crate in my bedroom so he could see me. I have no trouble putting him in the crate at night now. Chase has the inquisitiveness of a puppy. He is always checking out things and loves to drag them out and chew on them - even when he has plenty of chew toys. For this reason when I leave the house he is crated. He is fine with children, cats, other dogs and people. There is not a mean bone in Chase's body. He is just so sweet. As I have said, he is shy and needs to get to know you before he will feel comfortable around you. I have only heard Chase growl once and that was when his foster brother took his favorite green ball toy. Because of his very active nature and small size, a fence will be required. My goals for Chase are to socialize him more and start teaching him the basic commands of sit, stay, come, and down. It took about a week for Chase to feel comfortable in his new foster home. He has made great strides. It might take a few days for Chase to adjust to a new home when he is adopted. Chase is going to make someone or some family a great companion. He gives a lot of love and just enjoys life. If you think Chase might be the dog for you, please fill out the application. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Animal ID: PPR16-90Baby Girl (female)

Maltese    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Baby Girl is finally ready for a new family. Baby is a Maltese, about 10 years old, and weighs 10 lbs. She came to Puppy Pals Rescue after being surrendered at an animal shelter. She has been through a lot medically since coming into the care of Puppy Pals: she has been spayed, has had two mammary tumor removal surgeries, and has had a dental. She also has been heart worm and fecal-tested (results negative) and micro-chipped. We did have a biopsy performed on a couple of the removed tumors and, unfortunately, one came back as cancer. The vet says that mammary cancer in dogs typically does not spread. She is now healthy and tumor free. ... (Read More)Watching her, you would never guess that she is 10-years-old and has had mammary cancer%BD'%BD| she is full of life! Baby has been a joy to foster. She is such a good dog, and is so easy to live with and care for. She is house-broken. She's a good eater (she likes bananas and apples). She doesn't take any medications or need a special diet. She sleeps in a pen and is quiet all night. She is not destructive. She enjoys going on walks and on rides in the car (she has never gotten car sick). She loves to play with toys (she 'adopts' small fuzzy toys as her babies). She spends most of the day gazing out the window, barking at squirrels. She does have a loud bark for a small dog. Baby has some strange 'bathroom' habits%BD'%BD| she squats to pee, but doesn't stop walking to do it. I call her the 'walking pee-er'. She also eats her poop. This is not a medical issue (some dogs just do it), but I think it's gross. So, I pick it up right away. I have heard that adding carrots to her diet might stop it, and pet stores carry a diet supplement that works as a deterrent. Baby has been kept in a pen following her surgeries in order to restrict her activity, but she loves to be in the pen anyway%BD'%BD| even when the gate is open, that is where she is. In her new home, I'm sure that she would appreciate a space of her own with a soft bed. With a little coaxing, she will join you on the couch if you want a couch companion. Baby is very friendly with everyone. She gets along well with other dogs with the exception of other small white dogs%BD'%BD| but I think she would be OK with another small white dog if she got to know it. She hasn't been exposed to cats so we don't know how she would do. As a Maltese, Baby Girl does not shed, but she will require regular grooming. Baby Girl is a super sweet dog who will make a great addition to a lucky family! Animal ID: PPR17-01Benny (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello, meet Mr. Benny. He is a 5-year-old, white and tan Chihuahua who weighs 8.5 lbs. Benny is one of the most adorable and sweet little fellas we have had in a while. He is a real cuddler and enjoys lap time. Benny was a stray at a Kentucky dog shelter who was pulled by one of our Puppy Pals members and transported to his foster home in Beavercreek, Ohio. He has been neutered, received all his vaccines, has been heartworm and fecal tested (results negative), and has been micro-chipped. Benny sleeps in his crate. He appears to be crate, house and leash trained. He will need to learn your routine when he arrives at your house. He ... (Read More)has had an accident or two, but that was when he first arrived. He seems to do well on car rides. When Benny first arrived at his foster home, he was shy - and he has blossomed into a truly loyal, friendly companion. Benny loves to play with the other dogs, by chasing each other around the house or out in the yard. He loves his treats when he comes back in the house. (His foster home has also been using pee pads for all the dogs because of the rain and some not wanting to go outside.) He and the others love their toys. The ideal home for Benny would be a quiet home - possibly with an older couple or older single person who has the time to share their lap. If a family is considered with children - they would need to be older (10+) and have experience with the Chihuahua breed. He doesn't mind staying in his crate if his owner has to be away to work for a reasonable amount of time. We would prefer that Benny have a fenced-in yard, but if you have patience to take him out and walk him every few hours, that might be acceptable. We will consider the circumstances. If you would love a truly sweet little boy Chihuahua%BD'%BD| Benny is it! If you have any questions please contact the foster home at the link found at http://puppypalsrescue.com/Dogs_Benny1701.html. Pug Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adult Women Only
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Elsa is a very sweet little girl with lots of personality and spunk. She loves to play and will even throw toys for herself to chase. She is house broken and will ask when she needs to go out. We are working on basic commands like sit and watch me and she is learning fast. She would make a wonderful companion for someone. Elsa is up to date on vaccinations. She is good with other dogs and with cats. A fenced yard would be helpful, as she is energetic. Elsa's only 'problem' is that she is very mistrustful of men. Here in our home she will take treats from my husband and even occasionally let him pet her, but she is very skittish when ... (Read More)he is in the room. Elsa would be best for a single lady who wants a little friend to keep her company and entertain her. Won't you consider making this little lady part of your family? Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hi! My name is Banjo and I am a cute little Chihuahua living in Ohio and loving it. I am about 4 years old and was adopted by a nice lady who had a major upheaval in her life and with many tears and great regret%BD'%BD| she had to give me back to my original foster family. I'm a soft-haired fella who is great to snuggle in bed with (I sleep under the covers down by your feet), watch TV on the couch with, and go outside for short walks with (as I am a good boy on a leash). My stamina isn't up to par yet so I can only go half-way around the block, but we're working on it. I will walk with anyone who has the leash. (As for kids, at ... (Read More)least little girls that are 10 years old on up.) I might be a little nervous in your home in the beginning, but I am housebroken. I will go as soon as I wake up. I do get a Meaty Bone in the morning after I come in the first time and another one after I come in before we go to bed. I can't tell you what happened to me (since I cannot speak English), but something happened to the area of my upper legs so you have to pick me up by the middle of my body. The vet does not see this as being a problem at any time further on down the road. You're looking for a dog, I'm looking for a family%BD'%BD| maybe we were 'meant to be'? If you think I'm the little guy for you, please fill out an application so I can get my new forever home!
