Animal ID: PPR17-32Sam (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sam is 2-years-old and is still a very young pup who is lively, cheerful, and agile. He weighs almost 11 lbs. He enjoys a lot of affection, gives kisses, cuddles on your lap, is an excellent walker, runs like lightning in the yard, enjoys playing with toys, and sleeps under the covers spooning your belly. Sam is a morning dog; early to bed, early to rise. He gets up at 5-5:30 am and is ready to start the day and is sleepy by 8:30 pm and ready to go to bed. Sam would benefit from basic training to help with jumping and basic manners. He jumps high when you come home. Sam is 80% potty trained and still needs reinforcement. He will 'mark' ... (Read More)for 1-2 days when going to a new place. If he goes to the store or the vet and then back home, home is a 'new place' again. He doesn't mark after returning from a walk. He will also pee if you go to pick him up and he needs to pee. Sam has a high energy level. He goes on two walks a day and still runs like lightning in the yard. A secure, fenced-in yard would be best. If there is any way to get out, he will quickly show you where it is. Sam likes stuffed toys and nylabones. He scatters toys all over the house and is still learning to play with toys and people. He likes to play with toys inside and outside. On car rides, he will just sit in the seat next to you (a seat belt is best for his safety if he is not in a cage). He does not get car sick. In the house, he doesn't bother anything when having free roam of the house. He doesn't do well with being in a crate for a long period of time. He will cry because he just longs to be with you. He is ok with some other dogs... medium or large dogs would be better so he is not competing for lap dog attention. He didn't care for the cat he stayed with. He seems interested in kids, but will jump on them, so it would be best for him to find a home that doesn't have small children.     Hello, my name is Tootie and I am 10 years old. I am just old enough to have outgrown all the silly puppy habits. My favorite thing to do is cuddle in your lap and give you kisses. I would do that all day every day if I could. I am both crate and potty trained, and get along fine with both my foster dog sister and all four cats in my foster home. My foster mom says I would do best with someone retired or who works from home. I just want to be with my person. Since I am a little older, I am quiet and only bark when someone comes to the door. I am up-to-date on all shots, micro chipped, and healthy. I want a forever person to call my own. ... (Read More)Could it be you?     Doolittle is a 10 yr old, male, Terrier mix. When Doolittle came into Puppy Pals Rescue, he had thinning hair, skin issues, and potty issues. His foster parents, both medical professionals, discovered he has Diabetes Insipidus. It is not like Sugar Diabetes that everyone hears about. This means that he will have to take medicine for the rest of his life to help him regulate his water in his body. After a lot of love and time, his Insipidus, potty issues, and skin issues are under control. His foster parents feel that he is ready to find his furever home!! He has a very sweet personality and loves to cuddle up with you. He loves to ... (Read More)play fetch and really enjoys being outside when the weather is warm. He does have a little separation anxiety when he is let outside and you are not outside with him. He is crate trained. He is a 'rooter' and will try to get under the blanket to relax. His foster home has other dogs, a cat and numerous children ranging from age 5 to 21 yrs old. Doolittle has not been aggressive towards any of them. Doolittle has been working on basic commands and walking on a leash. He will make a great addition to any family. Please, if you are interested in Doolittle, make sure that you understand that it is a daily, life-saving medicine commitment for him with an average cost of $100 per month.
